VARIETY-  “Robin’s Hood” reps an enterprising first feature for Bay Area helmer Sara Millman…”                   ..    .     Robin’s Hood is a bold re-telling of the Robin Hood myth. This time, Sherwood Forest becomes the back alleys and neighborhoods of Oakland, California. And the evil king is the institutionalized racism and oppression that drives people into drugs and crime. Driven by a selfless need to change her poverty-stricken, inner-city community, Robin Hurly (Khahtee V. Turner) is a determined social worker who strives for idealism. Robin meets Brooklyn (Clody Cates), a French thief whose handsome charm proves to be intoxicating.

The story unfolds as these two women fall in love, and both enter a world of self- discovery. As their love intensifies, Robin is drawn into Brooklyn’s ideology and begins to steal with her to fulfill her goal to bring hope and a better life to the children of Oakland. Together they face an uncertain future, as Brooklyn’s drive to steal from the rich, fuels Robin’s fire to give to the poor.

Shadow Arthouse Films   “…this romantic drama shows considerable filmmaking skill and promise, both in the way it’s filmed and in the acting.  It touches on some extremely important issues that haunt a society in which poor people are simply abandoned by governmental inefficiency, apathy and even institutional racism.

Sara Millman on Who You Think You Are to Deserve Success>>>> Sara’s film was the closing night film at a London film festival. As she was sitting in the limo that was provided, she suddenly felt super anxious about the upcoming events. Throughout her whole life, Sara wanted to be seen, but now that all eyes were going to be on her, she began second-guessing her decisions. Being at these fancy parties and being treated like royalty while not being able to afford a cup of tea, Sara struggled with a prince and pauper sentiment, still feeling like an outsider who did not deserve to be there.
